USC CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM
The Largest Green Transportation Symposium on the West Coast
Overview:
The USC Construction Management Symposium is an annual event organized the the USC Associated General Contractors (AGC) Student Chapter. The Symposium is a single evening that includes a reception, dinner, and a series of speakers. Hosted this year in the vibrant LA Live , the Symposium attracts a multitude of individuals from the AEC industry as well as developers, lawyers, government officials, and many more.
The Symposium proceeds benefit the USC AGC Scholarship fund. Symposium 15 in April of 2009 marked the very first year of the scholarship. Scholarships will be presented at the opening of the Symposium to AGC members who have excelled in the classroom, industry, and as a member of the USC Associated General Contractors.
Symposium 15 marked the beginning of a 5 part series of Megacities. This year’s topic is Transportation. The 17th USC Construction Management Symposium will bring together high-ranking government officials, corporate leaders, and business owners to explore challenges and new business opportunities in Transportation throughout California. Speakers will address the new initiatives in the field of Transportation and how an improved infrastructure can aid our economy.
Speakers this year consist of past Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, Metro CEO Art Leahy, California High Speed Rail Authority CEO Roelof van Ark, Secretary of Transportation and House Agency Dale Bonner, and Executive Director of CALTRANS Cindy McKim.
Speakers are subject to change.

Past Symposiums
Previous Symposiums have included a culmination of contractors, architects, engineers, and government officials as speakers. Symposium 14 in 2007 featured the LA Live development.
In 2008, the California Bond Infrastructure was explored by keynote speaker Bill Lockyer, California State Treasurer. Symposium 15 highlighted BIM & Integrated Practice with Frank Gehry as the keynote speaker.
Last year’s Symposium 16 addressed the Green issue and how the contracting world has shifted towards sustainability. Last year was also the first year AGC awards its two new annual award: The Innovator Award and Visionary Award.
